On the cusp of the fall season, N&E hosted their destination wedding at our favorite château in Burgundy, the Château de Varennes. When I was first introduced to Natalie , I knew it would be a match made in heaven as she described her dream wedding as an Avantgarde Wakandan Affair: chic whimisical elegance with a fusion of tradition. With family roots hailing from Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, we wanted to capture and reflect their rich culture with a jeweled toned color palette and what better way then to capture this through florals. As Natalie’s mother was a florist, she expressed how important floral design was to her so I knew I had to bring in our favorite florist Antoniette from Fleurs de Fee, to work with me on highlighting the deep reds and soft pinks of the season.
The three day celebration started off with a welcome bbq for all 140 guests where the grooms family welcomed guests with a traditional song to get the crowd in the celebatory mood. There were over 13 nationalities represented with people from the US , Tobago, Australia, Ethiopia, France, Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Dubai, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and South Africa, phew! But the real star of the weekend was N&E’s four year old son, Mambo and photographer Christina Bernales prefectly captured every moment throughout the day.
